“POLYPAC” R ”
Modified natural polymer designed for use with most aqueous solutions, including solutions based on fresh, sea and salt water, as well as systems with low solids content. Polyanionic cellulose, having a high molecular weight, is similar to CMC, however, unlike carboxymethylcellulose, this product has a higher degree of substitution. It is the most widely used additive to control filtration, and, in general, it is much more efficient than CMC. Polypac R is not biodegradable and works well at alkaline pH. The effectiveness of the product is reduced in solutions saturated with salts. Other types of product that have ultra-low viscosity, such as Polypac UL and Polypac Supreme UL, must be added to the salt-saturated solutions. At temperatures above 275 ° F (135 ° C), Polypac R undergoes thermal decomposition. Polypac R is an anionic product, so it can liquefy in non-dispersible solutions. Polypac R increases viscosity and reduces water loss in both fresh and salt water. The range of applied concentrations of 0.5–2.0 pounds per barrel (1.43–5.7 kg / m3) varies depending on the chemical composition of the water and the required value of water loss.
